http://www.cockertribute.comWelcome back to cockertribute.com
Since 2009, I have been performing my Joe Cocker Tribute Act. On Friday, February 5Th, I had the incredible experience of performing with a group that included members of Joe Cocker’s band. The odds of a tribute artist getting to work with the artist that he portrays actual band members has got to be something like winning the lottery..18 Zillion to .001?
The show was in San Francisco and went like this: Blues stylist, D.A. Foster, opened the show with
assorted songs and selections from his latest album “the real thing”. He was followed by John Cafferty, of John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band. Then “LITTLE HELP” JOE’S CATS AND MADMEN” took the stage. LITTLE HELP, consisted of; Jeff Levine-Keyboards, Marty Kersich-Saxaphone, Phil Grande-Guitar, Joffo Simmons-Drums,Warren Mcrae-Bass, Mitch Chakour-Keyboards, Maxine Sharp-Vocals, Cydney Davis-Vocals, and yours trulyhttp://www.cockertribute.com/joe-cocker-alumni/, Alan Kaye-Vocals. I had the pleasure of singing: Delta Lady, Hitchcock Railway, Come Together,When The Night Comes, She Came In Through The Bathroom Window, Unchain My Heart, and With A Little Help From My Friends. D.A. Foster sang: Feeling Alright, You Can Leave Your Hat On, You Are So Beautiful, and The Letter. Mitch Chakour sang: Guilty, Cry Me A River, and Maxine Sharp, joined him on, Up Where We Belong.
When the show ended, I walked back up to the dressing room, seemingly, without my feet touching the ground. My eyes welled with water as I realized that I had just performed with these incredible artists who were part of Joe Cocker’s musical history. I felt Joe Cocker’s spirit in the room from my opening number until we all ended with “With A Little Help From My Friends”.
The members of “Little Help”, are not only skilled, accomplished performers, they are without a doubt, some of the most loving people in the music industry. I listened intently to the stories they told. I witnessed the chemistry shared as they hugged, smiled, and reconnected with each other.
I will never forget this performance and what a spiritual experience it was for me. Meeting and performing with this stellar lineup is forever etched in my soul, as I continue to perform my tribute, to a hero of mine, the late, great, Joe Cocker. I will be posting performance dates and news on my blog, so sign up for my mailing list or just keep checking back with my website.
